BREAKING: Police Arrest Teacher for Raping Student in Biology Laboratory

The police in Lagos have arrested a 28-year-old teacher, Idowu Daniel, at a private school in the Abule-Egba area of the state for allegedly having sex with a female pupil in his care. Daniel, who teaches computer science at Anatasia Comprehensive College, reportedly raped the 17-year-old pupil inside the school’s biology laboratory.  City Round learnt that Daniel had asked the pupil to bring her computer science note to him at the laboratory for marking. On getting there, the teacher reportedly made overtures to her and fondled her breasts. She was said to have resisted the advances and left. The Federal Government has obtained a court order to proscribe the  Shiites’ organisation formally referred to as the Islamic Movement in Nigeria. The Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday ordered the proscription of the Shiites’ movement as protests by the Islamic organisation rock Abuja. it was reported that Justice Nkeonye Maha issued the order in a ruling in which  she also designated the activities of the Shiite organisation in any part of Nigeria “as acts of terrorism and illegality.” The court restrained “any person or group of persons” from participating in any form of activities involving or concerning the IMN “under any name or platform” in Nigeria. Despite the harsh criticism of  the planned establishment of Ruga settlements across the country, the Federal Government is set to commence the pilot phase of the project  in Taraba, Adamawa, Plateau, Kaduna and seven other states. It was learnt in Abuja on Friday that the  execution of the project  would start in 11 states including Sokoto, Nasarawa, Kogi, Katsina, Kebbi, Zamfara and Niger.  Documents seen  by one of our correspondents at the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development showed that all was set for the implementation of the initiative. Between January and May this year, the three tiers of government got the sum of N3.14tn as allocation from the federation account. The amount was allocated by the Federation Account Allocation Committee to the federal, states and local governments.   The committee, which is headed by the Minister of Finance, is made up of commissioners of finance from the 36 states of the federation; the Accountant General of the Federation, Mr Ahmed Idris,  and representatives from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation. Others are representatives from the Federal Inland Revenue Service, the Nigeria Customs Service; Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission as well as the Central Bank of Nigeria.
